NOW AND AT THE
HOUR OF OUR DEATH
for Catholics on
End-of-Life Issues
At some point every family must deal with issues involving end of life care for a loved one. As Catholics attempt to navigate the myriad medical, ethical, and religious questions that arise, all the while dealing with the grief of an impending death, it can become overwhelming.
In an effort to offer assistance, the New York State Catholic Conference has produced a website that tackles many of the common questions and concerns, offers clarity and compassion, and serves as an education Resource for Catholics nationwide.

The Diocese of Rochester and the Gates Catholic Community is committed to the safety and well-being of our youth and vulnerable adults. In ensuring this safety and well-being the diocese has created a mandatory workshop and background check for any adult having direct contact with our youth and vulnerable adults. The two hour workshop, “Creating a Safe Environment” and subsequent confidential background check is provided at no charge to any adult wishing to assist directly with our youth and vulnerable adults. Please contact the Parish Office for further information.

PAVER UPDATE
Just wanted to let everyone know how things are progressing! All three churches are done now, except for the final dressing at St. Helen's, and construction of the walking path around the North side of the pond at St. Jude's has begun. Because the walkway will hopefully become the home of many, many pavers over the years, it will be completed in sections until the walkway reaches the tomb. Feel free to pass the word to others, and businesses as the more pavers we sell, the more it helps our bottom line. As a reminder, we can't do any forms of punctuation, symbols, or art work. The engraver will only do letters, numbers, hyphen, and an mpersand if needed. Also, we still have room at all the locations for additional engraved pavers. Finally, thanks to those who have had positive comments about this fundraiser!

Creating A Safe Environment
Creating a Safe Environment is mandated by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to ensure the safety of those most defenseless in our society, including our children and vulnerable adults.
Therefore, anyone wishing to volunteer at are required to meet the following guidelines:
- Sign a Diocese of Rochester Volunteer Code of Conduct form
- Pass the Criminal Record Check process
- Complete the Creating a Safe Environment Training
*Note: Volunteer drivers for Church programs and events must have their driving record checked every year.
In addition to these requirements, all volunteers must continually renew their training in CASE, as determined by the Diocese of Rochester.
CASE training is available online and requires a potential volunteer to contact the individual parish. The Completion Certificate, Volunteer Code of Conduct, and results from the quiz must be printed and brought to the Parish Office
